A Couple of Notable Happenings in the Press
Publisher's Weekly put up a 10 page excerpt from the forthcoming Monologues for Calculating the Density of Black Holes, which is due out in January from Fantagraphics, and the L.A. Times put up a picture from the opening in L.A. last week at Littlebird Gallery. With a very odd caption.

Giant Comic Book For Sale
Holy $%&#@* this book is large. It also happens to be the most awesome book released so far in the 21st century. If you happen to be anywhere near Chicago on Saturday, the 13th of December, you should come to Chicago Comics and buy one and have me and Souther Salazar, Sammy Harkham, Ron Rege, Chris Ware, Ivan Brunetti, Kevin Huizenga, Ted May, Dan Zettwoch, John Hankiewicz, John Pham and C. Tyler draw pictures in it for you.

Landscapes and Smoke
Below are an image from and the postcard for a show I am doing at Littlebird Gallery in L.A., called Landscapes and Smoke. It opens on December 6th and features a bunch of big drawings, a few gouache paintings and a few covers from Big Questions. Included are Batman, Captain America, The Archangel Gabriel, Adam and Eve and an upside down tree. Oh, and Bison Man. If you're around you should come check it out.

Slide Show Tonight at Quimby's
Assuming the world economy doesn't spontaneously combust and take us all with it between now and 7:00, I'm going to be doing a reading/comics slide show at Quimby's bookstore here in Chicago tonight (Thursday, 9-25-8). I'll be showing a sort of preview of the forthcoming Monologues for Calculating the Density of Black Holes (Monologues II-Fantagraphics Books, due out in February) as well as a video-ized version of the strip Event, which first appeared in Mome, back in 2005, and was originally conceived as a video, not a comic strip. Which explains why it doesn't really look like one. Joe Meno and Arthur Nersesian are also reading.
